The Wildlife Management Laboratory is a semi-governmental research unit devoted to studying the ways of protecting agricultural crops against damage by birds and mammals. We have also been involved in studies on the conservation of bird diversities in farmland, though such studies are not regular research subjects for our unit.

Since July 2004 Studied landscape ecological analysis of animal habitat preference, especially raptors and other bird species using GIS. Also studied animal behavior, especially birdsong and other communication signals. Loves playing football, cooking and playing guitar and other instruments.
Nakatani Jun Ph.D.

Since April 2006 Studied ecology of wild boar.
Masahiko Takeuchi Ph.D.

Since February 2007 Develops counter-measures of crop damage by raccoon dogs and masked-palm civets.
Yasuhiro Yamaguchi Ph.D.

Since April 2000 Has studied brown-eared bulbul.
Hoshiko Yoshida Research Official Since August 1996 Has studied conservational issues of birds in wetlands and farmland since the graduate school. Also working on chemical bird repellents. Enjoys horseback riding.
Midori Saeki Ph.D.
Research Official
Since August 2007 Has studied raccoon dogs and the other medium-sized carnivores. Brown belt of Kyokushin Karate.
Chiaki Ishijima Part-time Research Assistant Since April 1996 Takes care of all animals we keep such as a goshawk, domestic chickens, crows and so on. The only person who knows where any facility or good is.

  Take Tsukuba Express line from Akihabara station to Tsukuba station. (45 min trip, 1150JPY).
  Take local bus from Tsukuba st. (no. 42 or 42A, departure at only 7:42, 8:00, 9:05 on weekdays & 8:07, 10:17 on weekends and holidays) to the Norin-danchi Chuo bus stop (20 min trip).
  10 min walk from Norin-danchi Chuo to our lab's office room or the experimentation building.

  Take Tsukuba Express line from Akihabara station to Midorino station. (44 min trip, 1000JPY).
  Take local bus from Midorino st. to the Norin-danchi Chuo bus stop (15 min trip, 300JPY, weekdays only).
  10 min walk from Norin-danchi Chuo to our lab's office room or the experimentation building.

  Take JR Joban line from Ueno terminal to Ushiku station. (about 1 hour trip, 950JPY).
  Take local bus from Ushiku st. (west gate, no. 4) to the Norin-danchi Chuo bus stop (20 min. trip, 430JPY).
  10 min walk from Norin-danchi Chuo to our lab's office room or the experimentation building.
